Into the Studio, In the Cross

Hi everyone!  It’s hard to believe an entire month has gone by – time definitely flies when you’re busy.  We’re heading into the studio in less than TWO WEEKS, which is exciting and a little nerve-wracking because none of us have ever recorded a full-length album.  Playing live is one thing, but recording is a different beast altogether: every detail gets captured in pristine quality, so even a small mistake can become painfully obvious.  Having said that, we’ve been practicing hard all September, and we have faith that all good and God-pleasing work bears fruit.

We’d like to share with you a taste of that fruit: a sneak peak at “In The Cross,” another song from the upcoming album. The original hymn was written in 1825 by John Bowring; we’ve updated it for modern worship band and added a new chorus.

We’re pressing on!

After seven months of arranging, songwriting, planning, and prayer, the Hymn Remix Project is ready to move forward!  We’re less than three months away from releasing the album, so it’s time to say goodbye to the countdown timer and hello to actual content.

This is an acoustic demo of “Higher Ground,” a hymn originally written by Charles H. Gabriel.  Our intended “wall-of-sound” feel doesn’t quite come through on a single acoustic (the album version is arranged for electric guitars), but we thought that standing in front of a mountain while singing such empowering lyrics would make up for the lack of overdrive.  Hope you enjoy!
