Justin is the primary singer and guitarist of the Hymn Remix Project, and the group’s de-facto frontman, though he never would have imagined himself in the role. For years, he struggled with depression and undiagnosed Attention Deficit Disorder: after many academic failures, he eventually dropped out of college at the age of 21. Only after coming to faith—and upon God’s prompting—did he begin to pursue music in earnest.
He spent three years at Humber College, studying Vocal Jazz Performance and performing with ensembles under the direction of Don Palmer, Orville Heyn, and Shannon Gunn. Meanwhile, he honed his skills on acoustic and electric guitar by playing in church at every opportunity. After music school, he spent a year studying systematic theology at the undergraduate level at Tyndale University College & Seminary. He describes his path to becoming a musician and worship leader as “incredibly humbling,” requiring a step of faith at every turn.
Justin currently leads worship at Scarborough Community Alliance Church.
